Last Saturday Grace took CJ to take his Gift & Talented exam. We’ve been prepping him with patterns and puzzles and the like for months now and it all came down to a 15 minute pointing test which will determine if he will be accepted into a G&T elementary school program in September. The exam itself is very difficult which is probably the point so it can do its job in weeding out the weak students. The patterns seem to be okay, but the spatial puzzles are just downright tricky like no other puzzle that CJ had been exposed to before.
In any case, if CJ does well and gets accepted into a good school, great. And if not, that’s okay too. But what’s also unfair is that not every school, good or not so good school, is equipped and funded with a gifted & talented program to begin with. Yep.
