Mr. Suhu: Year 12

I think this is the least prepared I’ve ever been for the beginning of the school year, but perhaps that’s a testament to my experience. My classroom is a mess, but I don’t care because I know I’ll eventually get around to it. And I haven’t thought much about what I’m going to talk about on the first day of classes tomorrow (today), but I’m confident I can muster something up from the past. The only thing that’s getting me slightly nervous is the fact that I’m not nervous, ha!

Hope the first day went well! I like how weapons are like halfway down your list of forbidden items. Such are our times…

ha, I was so disorganized in my speech, but whatever.

yeah, it’s crazy that teachers in Texas now can legally carry a firearm in the classroom.

I didn’t know about the school policy, but I’m not surprised. There are firearms signs/policies on the doors of any public place here, including hotels and restaurants. I’m used to it now…Texans love their guns, I guess. And don’t even get me started about the people who brought guns to a Dallas-area Chipotle in support of open carry laws.

Btw I meant it was funny how you thought first to forbid portable electronics before weapons, not necessarily the inclusion of weapons themselves. I bet many more kids are distracted by phones than weapons (I hope!).

yeah, my school is relatively safe. every once in a while school safety has students go through metal detectors on a random basis, so I feel safe in my school.
