Dance Dance 4

Yesterday was the last Anime Club meeting of the year and I must say, I really had a great time with these kids every Thursday afternoon. I went into almost every meeting thinking that I’d just sit back and get some work done, but I always found myself enjoying the episodes and movies we watched, the things we learned, and the games we played. Most importantly, I got to see a fresh side of some of my students that I’ve never seen before. Some of them are really mature and nurturing towards one another which allowed new friendships to flourish. The Anime Club became something more than simply watching anime, but more about meeting new people and accepting and allowing them to join in on the fun. I’ve always said that this club far surpasses most other clubs because it’s not bounded by any race, religion, skill, or talent, but is grounded in coming together and welcoming all who want to come.

Someone made a slideshow and I almost teared up. I really wish I had a group of friends like them when I was in high school.

Thanks for sharing. It’s good to hear when even after some time in a career field, you still get inspired, especially by other people you deal with day after day. Do you think your students think you’re super old?! You do look older but not by that much.

Thanks, Janina. Their friendships and the fun they have are just so contagious.

By the way I look and act, they’re always surprised to find that I’m in my 30’s.
