CJ has learned to problem solve when he can’t reach something that’s too high for him. He’ll push or pull a chair over to where he wants to reach up and will climb up the chair to get what he wants. This in turn has led to CJ sometimes moving a chair to a window because he wants to look outside. We don’t want him falling out of a window, so we had to get window gates. Plus we’ve been delaying the inevitable and were out of compliance with NYC apartment laws for quite some time now.
Our super is very strict, but mostly nice, so I gave him a visit and it cost us $12.50 per gate which I think is a good price that included installation. We got three installed, one in each bedroom and in the living room without blocking any of our fire escape windows. They’re hideous, but at least they’ll keep CJ safe and if we ever need to take them off all I need to do is remove four screws.
