It’s pretty difficult finding parking in the morning in the heart of Flushing. I try to give myself at least 30 mins to find street parking and sometimes that isn’t enough time and I end up wasting gas and paying $2.75 – $5.00 for municipal parking depending if I have a half or full day. But for a normal week I’m able to find street parking half the time which I think is pretty good.
Finding parking is an art form. There’s certainly a method to the madness and everyone is allowed to express it in their own way. From continuous circling to following drivers masked as pedestrians to camping out along a long row of cars. Because of its inefficiency, there are superior and inferior ways to hunt for the spot, but in the end we’re all hunters and we’ve all experienced the joy of discovering the target and swooping in for the kill.
Flushing and Chinatown, I think they’re the two hardest places in New York City to find free street parking…next to Forest Hills, ha.
