My THIS MEANS WAR Review

The wife and I actually had time the other night to sit and watch this romantic comedy. I actually wanted to see this because I love Chris Pine and Tom Hardy who fight over Reese Witherspoon. They’re two rising stars, or are already A-list stars, who have proven themselves to me in Star Trek, Inception, The Warrior, and Batman Rises. Reese Witherspoon on the other hand is looking her age and for a bit could have been taken to be their mothers. The story is relaxingly funny, but unfortunately much of the comedy was already revealed in the trailer. It was interesting to see the two CIA agents use their skill sets to track and attract Withersppoon, but of course it was predictable and cliche. There was some great banter between Pine and Hardy, and the film may have shined a little brighter if the story was focused more on them, but it was not enough since Witherspoon needed some screen time too.

In the end, it was a roughly-rounded romantic comedy that may appeal to various audiences, but there’s nothing special or worthy of this film to warrent anything but a netflix or $1 redbox rental.

I give this a 6 out of 10.
